Thank you for that. I will definitely read up on the IC posts and try to get one in. Thanks for letting me continue.

Hello, all. I am back once again. I am so sorry to have disappointed everyone in the game. I had a serious mental relapse and have been in some inpatient care for a few months. I hope that is the last inpatient care for a while.

    Initiative for F12 Air Spirit is (Fx2) + 4 + 2d6 = 35

I have to ask about the Air Spirit that is supposed to be watching the building. Its second task was to protect Lilly. Is it anywhere close about?

That is correct. I am talking about just the forum posts. They do not usually show up any more when I log in. I need to manually refresh the screen and sometimes that does not even work.

I, too, am having trouble with refreshing the posts. Sometimes it does not even refresh after I use the button. For example, I have been refreshing every day for several days and just now got about eight messages dating back to June 1.

Sian looks at the small pile of dirt on the floor of the tunnel and waves her hand. A small section of the rock molds itself over the dirt and evens out as much as possible. “We crossed into the contaminated area somewhere between the last air shaft and this one. That means that we are within 650 meters of the building, depending on how straight I can make the tunnel. The background count will likely increase the closer we get, but it is easily overcome at this point as the solid rock here seems to be a bit resistant to the effects. I would expect about thirty to forty minutes longer doing this, unless we run into difficulties.”

Sian continues on for a bit then pauses in her mining for a moment. Turning to the others, she says, “My spirit is telling me that a vehicle just pulled into the clearing. Not sure yet where it is headed.”

She lifts her ‘link up. >>Thank you, Lilly. Please remember that you have an ally up there, although you may need to contact me if you need assistance. His second task is to protect you, but he might try to claim that he is performing his primary task unless I remind him.<<

Without waiting for an answer, Sian turned back to the rock wall to her front. Her finger moved and small crack appeared in the solid rock. She moved her hand a bit and the crack widened, stone shifting and molding to the shape she desired. She caught a slight bubbling in the rock that signified that she had hit something of a different density and quickly made changes in how she configured this part of the tunnel. Satisfied that she had made the corrections, she smiled to herself and continued driving the underground passage towards the building.

To Sian, this was all very clearly a mental high. She had studied hard at various universities to learn the skills that allowed her to plan the exact placement of the support beams, how much space was needed between supports, how to create the air shafts. Her magic allowed it all to come together. She had lost count of the number of similar excavations she had made to get to one buried tomb or another. In some ways being underground is preferable to being on the surface. Sian snickered; certainly she does not have to suffer the effects of the sunlight on her skin down here.

She hears a sigh from somewhere behind her and grins without looking around. “I am going as quickly as I think is safe. There is a great deal of rock above us right now and I am sure that none of us want it caving in about us.”

Both Rob Lee and his daughter nod and promise to work as hard as necessary to repay the debt they still feel is owed.

Sandy gives a surprised sound when Cynthia talks about schools. “No, now that you mention it. I don’t think we have thought about opening a school here. Hmm, I could talk to someone to see what that would take.”

Sian moves carefully through the rock. Small movements of her hands create the passage she and her companions are using. She uses her skills as an engineer to make the passage stable and small chimney-like shafts extend to the surface to ensure that a flow of air is available.

The spirit stays in touch during the journey, maintaining its distance but giving Sian an idea of what is happening on the surface, which Sian passes on to her companions. When the spirit passes on the information that there are no vehicles near the building, she turns to the others. “I am told that there are no vehicles at the building. Do we want to continue with this?”

Tatjana has little time for the byplay between the others as she is already concentrating on digging her tunnel. She draws on several skills to get the path going in the right direction, accounting for a shifting depth of dirt above the bedrock. She expects that she will feel the effects of the toxic area before too long and is prepared to cast another spell to account for the increased levels of background count.

Tatjana estimates that she might be making forward progress of about sixteen to twenty meters a minute, which is not too bad.

Rob Lee smiles at Cynthia when he notices that she is including his daughter in the conversation. The girl turns to her father and signs a bit with her hands. Her father looks from his daughter back to Cynthia. “She is a bit nervous but is also very excited. I still do not really know how we will be able to repay you for this kindness.”

Sian is heading for the building, but will take the time to direct the course.

Sian has the quality Sense of Direction to help her know the direction and distance she needs to go.

    Navigation (-1 for wounds and +1 for quality): 6d6t5 = 4

That was a great roll for that dice pool. I hope that it is enough.

LOL You can tell I have been away from the game far too long. I completely forgot about using an Edge to try to avoid the damage. Oh well, next time, I guess.

If the chattering can be believed, both Claudia and Sandy seem very interested in the efforts to form the corporation. Ideas are bounced back and forth during the ride back to the House.

James nods at the decision to postpone the visit to Amos. “Life out here will carry on, Miss Cynthia. I am sure that he will understand that you are very busy right now. Besides, it gives him more time to prepare better.”

Rob Lee and his daughter are sitting on the porch when Cynthia and the others arrive back at the House. They stand and Rob Lee moves to assist the three women in dismounting. “I hope that the trip was good.”

Thanks. She has skills in Geology (5) and in Engineering (6) with a specialty in subterranean engineering.

    Geology (with -1 for wounds): 10d6t5 = 4

    Engineering (with -1 for wounds): 13d6t5 = 7

I was not sure which was more appropriate so rolled both for you to select from.

Sian will definitely use a Shape Stone spell to get through the rock. She has two open quickened slots available so can she use one to keep the first spell active when she changes spells?

Since I cast the Shape Earth spell after taking the drain damage, the effect would be one less, so Sian can move a maximum of 13m per turn and just barely made the drain against that spell.

Sian wipes at her face before nodding at the Dryad. “I will have it protect you as a secondary task. Its primary task is to observe the building. The spirit will remain within 1100 meters of my location, so it will not protect you if you go running off.”

She sends a mental command to the spirit, adding the task.

LOL OK. It appears that I have been reading that wrong. That will hurt a bit, yes. Ouch.
