So sorry about the weekend delay – I know the ball was in my court.
So IC is up.
I had planned for it to include a decision moving us forward, but the more I wrote and thought, well, even though IC-wise we are all split up, I realized I really shouldn’t be deciding something this big on my own, just because it happens to be Al holding the commlink.
My reasoning is basically in the IC –
emotionally, I hope Torrent is only guilty of disastrously and arrogantly withholding vital information – in which case we could do as he asks – NOT returning any children, but hunting Horrors.
If I had to second-guess the “game” in meta-fashion, I might go for this choice.But logically, everything we’ve seen points to Torrent having wanted us to destroy this place, and now wanting us out of the way.
* Silk is high up in all this anti-Horror stuff. But there’s this “council” that withholds this info from her regarding an Elder God prison right in her own base city – and not only withholds it from her, but also from the “senses” of her little Pattern-magic society.
* This super-high-up council then includes an ORK, with a lifespan of say, fifty years, alongside all the immortal elves and dragons?
* Despite the close connections, we poke around clumsily for a couple of days, and Torrent knows nothing about what we are getting close to until we are actually in the place?
* Despite having worked with Al numerous times, and being a “face” who understands people, Torrent calls Al and thinks “please just stand down from your job because you trust me” with no explanation at all is going to work? With Al? It’s almost like he WANTED Al to go blowing things up.
* Despite having Al’s number and access to the loudspeaker, he waits through ten minutes of mayhem before reaching out again. And then ONLY after sending the badasses to get rid of us, and then seeing that it might not work, that we might beat those badasses – THEN they slide a commlink across the floor, when he has Al’s number?I think maybe these guards really think they are protecting this place.
But the only conclusion I can draw logically from the data about Torrent is that he is trying to subvert this place.But way too big a call for me to make just on my own IC.
Opening it up OOC might just lead to greater confusion – but I think it is the right thing to do among us RL friends/players.

Just in case there’s some pbp fog I thought Al had made it so Torrent couldn’t call him?? Of course he could have used the loud speaker…
I don’t think he’s actually said anything about being in charge of anything either… he’s a face not a brain (if that makes any sense?)
And everyone mis judges Al… it’s part of his ‘thing’ ?

The disconnect /offline nature of this place make tanoy’s a little bit of a red herring and slow. Why call the office and wait for the technical department to “make it go” when can just call. Also may be he doesn’t know EXACTLY what is happening; bit like ophra wimphry and her girls school.

No question there are endless possibilities for FOG in play.
Like I said (longwindedly), MY sense ot the GAME is that Torrent has been an abysmal communicator but not an evildoer.
Wheras AL’s view ON THE GROUND is that Torrent must be playing the team in a bid to release Horrors.
But whichever is correct, I think all the team should have an OOC say, since it is too big a decision for the overall game to be down to just the guy holding the commlink.
I’ll take any input offered, filter it through Al, and then IC an actual response to Torrent.

Check it is him through personal questions. Confront him with children dying in this place and the disposal method. and “what muppet stores toxic demons in a city” and maybe tat his precious daughter is the initiator of this run.

I’m kind of tempted to have Addie shout something out (for the speakerphone to pick up) about how well they are ‘surviving’, but I also don’t want to distract from Al’s flow …
As to Adam’s question, as a player I’d say we were clearly intended to arrive at this point (there was nothing to tip us off ahead of time about what was happening, and we were hired for a job that would almost surely have led to an outcome like this). I’d put my trust in Aria that we can make decisions either way and have interesting results from that (i.e. there is not a ‘right answer’ that we are supposed to make). So I’d say go ahead with whatever feels right for Al, and I’m sure things will be interesting either way.

1) Am I correct that we now have released all the kids that were able/willing to wake up (incl. Addie and Dana)? Everything goes out the window if there are kids awake and being held….
2) Are comms between the inside and outside (in the sewers) team going through?
