The Found Arcana – Interlude [OOC]
-
@gilga
What’s the difference between your first set of rolling (the 22 hits) and the rolling in the post above (the 17 hits)? It looks like the same base pool, but with Jawsey’s extra dice being added in. But you’re adding the 22 hits from before with the 17 hits above? Are you starting over or something to reset the Extended Test dice pool? The IC post represents the “Limited Interest or Not Publicized” information that you can find over the course of 4 searches * 30 minutes = 2 hours of digging. I tried to keep the information interesting and semi-pertinent, but if there are specific pieces of information that you’re looking for, or questions you want answered, let me know and I can write up something about that.
If you want to get into the “Hidden or Actively Hunted and Erased” data then that’s possible but the threshold (12 hours) is much longer, so that would involve some fast-forwarding, and maybe some grid hopping and/or hacking. Right now we’re covering the 5-6 hours between lunch and dinner on October 1st.
@all
Let me know if there’s anything else you want to cover within that window. If not, we can skip forward to dinner, which is basically Mato rejoining the group and debriefing together. -
I just wanted to add Jawsei’s rolls.
We can try to find more, but it does not feel very urgent at the moment. AM will probably work on her decker skills and teach Jawsei rather than submerge into a 2-day long computer search.
-
Mato has returned.
Still in open RP, and open world. People are free to respond or not respond to Mato as they wish. After that we can continue on the thread if there are things that people want to do. If not, we’ll wrap up the interlude.
-
@Beta
Anything that Jawsey wants to add?@All
Any thoughts about what we want to do next? The Quick Start Rules for 6E land in two weeks. Was there any interest in taking those for a spin as a group? It would be a bit of an aside, but we have about the right number of people if they include a version of Food Fight. I have another group I can do that with too, but I wanted to check with you three as well.
Right now we could:
1) Launch into Chapter III
2) Do another interlude to wait for QSR
3) Just open RP to wait for QSR
4) Some other option
5) None of the above -
I’d be happy to test the quickstart rules – but as a separate game.
I highly doubt I could recreate Bobby in the new rules and I kinda like him.
In regard to that I’m ready to launch chapter III
If Beta doesn’t have the time, I can take care of GM for that. -
The idea was more along the lines of “pause Found Arcana while we run the Quick Start Rules separately” rather than trying to recreate highly-specialized characters within the Quick Start Rules. But not pausing Found Arcana is a valid approach too.
If Beta’s wrapped up on the IC thread then we’ll deduct lifestyle payments and move into rewards.
-
Let’s not pause, we can test QSR as they are published.
AM uses matrix and spells so – I doubt QSR would cover that. -
I just watched an unboxing of the Sixth World Beginner Box. There are four sample characters plus an adventure. It sounds like the adventure has 3 parts, of which the first part is similar to the 4th Edition version of Food Fight, in that it takes place in a Stuffer Shack. But, unlike the 4E version, this has two other parts that logically follow the events of the first, so it’s more of an adventure and not just a one-off combat encounter.
Alright, hearing nothing from Beta, we’ll wrap up the Interlude. Just to ground myself, I tallied up the number of posts for everyone:
Me: 11 posts
Beta: 11 posts
Jack: 14 posts
Gilga: 18 postsIn keeping with the theme of the Interlude – namely, to explore aspects of the world that don’t always get attention – I’d like to do something similar with the rewards. Everyone gets the following:
Karma: 2 karma, enough to buy off a rank of In Debt if you can afford it
Contact: Katsuo “Andrew” Musai, Yakuza sergeant, at Connection 4, Loyalty 1
Knowledge Skills (general): 3 points to spend as you please, to either buy new knowledge skill(s) and/or to add to existing knowledge skills, the goal being to advance things that are often afterthoughts. Spend these the same way you would in chargen (e.g. a specialization costs 1 skill point).
Knowledge Skill (specific): Sioux Sign Language at rank 1. This is from Native American Nations, Volume 1. It’s good for secure, non-verbal communication when wireless is unavailable or inadvisable. Granted, this was much more common in 1E-3E than it is now, but I think it’s something that Bobby might be able to mime while in some of his animal forms. The sign language is interesting, as it was a trade/bridge language among the Native Americans to facilitate trade across a wide geography covering many different languages. I’ve been wanting to include it in a game for 25 years now, and I think it makes sense for us, especially with Bobby’s communication limitations while transformed. More about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plains_Indian_Sign_Language
Let me know if you have any questions. Go ahead and deduct lifestyle and debt payments, if you haven’t already.
-
Cool,
I’ve updated my sheet – Set Sign Language to 2, learned a bit about Marketing 1 and got myself a speciality Underworld (Yakuza).
At the end of the month, My debt is reduced to 17.000 and rises directly to 18.700, leaving me with a bit over 2000 Nuyen on hand – just enough to pay interest and become a squatter should the next month be less than fruitful. -
Wiz.
For similar disclosure, Mato bought Business 5 (up from 3) and a Redmond specialization for Area Knowledge Skill: Seattle.
I used the 2 karma to buy down In Debt from III to II. I also paid off ¥12,500 from Mato’s debt. It decreases to ¥10,000, then increases to ¥11,000 due to monthly interest.
After the lifestyle payment, including his expensive subscriptions, Mato only has ¥325 left. He’s cutting it a little closer than Bobby.
-
I bought 3 levels of magical theory (figured AM knows a bit about her craft but did not see much of it in her sheet), did not use the karma yet – saving toward something else. Took her debt to 7, and paid interest, she owes 52.5k nuyen and will be in dire problems if we do not make enough money next month.
-
Sorry to have been quiet during the final discussion. I really didn’t think of anything to add. I’ll figure out what to spend the points on presently.
For 6th edition I’m not in a huge rush, but if someone wants to try running stuff from the quickstart rules, I’m up for that. I was planning on waiting for CRB6 to come out before buying anything myself.
I would be up for running a run, starting likely mid next week. I have things roughed out in my head but I really should get some things written down, so that I don’t forget them six weeks from now (and make sure that I don’t see any huge issues once I can look at it)
-
Hopefully people be up for the next story section starting very soon? (allergies had been killing my energy this Spring, but they seem to finally be wrapping up and I’m getting more ambitious again, so I’m ready to go!).
I’m going to put up an OOC for chapter 3, and if you are game please link or insert your updated character sheet there for easy reference.
-
Alright – I finished the money things. Left her with 600 nuyen, but she managed to create an F6 watcher spirit to put in her Govi. so we have that.
